Beware of Deed Scam
September 18th, 2007 1:39 PM
A real estate scam is making the rounds in our area. If you receive a phone call, letter or email from someone stating that your deed has not been registered and to send them money to register it for you, this is a scam. Typically, the deed is sent by the title company or person handling your closing to the county for the deed to be registered. If you have any doubt that your deed has been registered, contact the registrar of deeds at your court house to confirm or contact your Realtor®.
